Miles James: A Birth Story

Our last photo as a family of two!

Miles James Koch was born at 12:32pm on Sunday, October 25, 2015 after spending exactly 41 weeks getting ready for the outside world. I started having contractions at around midnight on Friday night/Saturday morning. If you're quick at math, you probably just realized that I was in labor for almost exactly 36 hours. Yep. I woke up around midnight on Friday night with what felt like an intense gas cramp. However, after about two hours of cramping, I started to think that my wildest dreams … [Read more...]

The beauty of Pinterest is that mentally, it's kind of the same thing as shopping, except it's free... and I can pin non-maternity clothes to my heart's content without having to change out of my daily uniform of spandex and baggy workout tanks. I finally entered my third trimester a couple of weeks ago, and I would say "Oh my gosh I can't believe I'm already in my third trimester!" except that if anything, I can't believe I am ONLY in my third trimester. These past few weeks have been craaaawwwling by, and I have a feeling the next 10 weeks won't exactly fly by, either. In fact, mid-October feels about 100 years away! But shh.), and that means pretty soon I will get to actually start putting together a nursery for this little guy! Over the past few weeks, I have started to appreciate the importance and realness of a "nesting" instinct, which I previously thought was probably just a marketing ploy. But I can really see how getting a space ready for a new … [Read more...]

I can't believe I'm almost 24 weeks into this pregnancy! With only a few weeks to go in my second trimester (which apparently starts somewhere between 25 and 27 weeks depending on who you ask), I'm still trying to get in the gym at least 2-3 times a week, and so far it has been feeling really good. But that's not to say that my WODs are the same as they used to be. The biggest challenge has been recognizing that my body changes so much from day to day, that just because I could do something last … [Read more...]
